Fun Facts
Apart from being a student at Brown, I am an avid ceramicist! I absolutely love clay, and I have been making sculptures and pots on the wheel for four years in total. I have had my pieces displayed at galleries, and my next step is to get an online store to sell my pieces. I also love watching sports, whether it be football, basketball, or my favorite, ice hockey. Even though I am from New Jersey, I am a Boston fan for all sports teams. I have always loved baking and taking photos as hobbies.
About Me
I am a senior concentrating in biology and visual arts at Brown University with a 4.0 GPA. Though I am a pre-medical student, I have devoted a lot of my time to practicing the art of ceramics. I hope to take a gap year after college to continue my art and continue my research in pulmonary inflammation that I am currently working on. It would be amazing to be a doctor but also an artist in my free time.
Experience
As a senior in high school, I started to tutor my peers and students outside of my school in biology. I have always been strong in the sciences, and I really enjoy helping others learn more about subjects I love. I also have been an active participant in community engagement for four years. In high school, I attended an after-school program to tutor middle school students and be a teacher’s aide to children ages 3-7. Now, I travel to a local Providence elementary school to be a teacher’s aide.
Approach
From all of my learning experiences as a student, I have found that the different perspectives other peers/tutors/mentors can provide are extremely helpful in understanding a subject. As a student in college, I still have tutors for subjects that I find very difficult, and I always find that I leave feeling refreshed and motivated to learn after I get help. I strive to make a tutoring experience as supportive, helpful and motivating as possible for those need just a little extra support.
