Fun Facts

I have an especial love for early music (medieval and Renaissance), and some of my favorite repertoire to perform are the lute works of Renaissance composers like John Dowland. Besides playing the classical guitar, I write, record, mix, and master my own music and hope to release a solo album within the next year or so (if the perfectionist in me will allow it, at least!). Apart from my love for music, I enjoy poetry, philosophy, history, and learning foreign languages.

About Me

I am a private guitar instructor working in the North Phoenix/North Peoria area in Arizona. I graduated from Arizona State University summa cum laude with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance in 2017. My current career goals are to perform professionally as a classical guitarist as well as work as a composer for film and/or video games.

Experience

I have been working as a private guitar instructor continuously for just over one year. In October of 2017, I served as music director for a musical production of Orpheus at ASU West in which I worked closely with individual performers, assisting them in learning to perform the music—some of which I composed myself—with skill and confidence. Outside of music, I had tutored fellow students in writing and English while I was attending ASU.

Approach

When teaching guitar and general music, I want my students to feel personally connected to what they are learning; I make an effort to know and understand their musical preferences and put together my own solo arrangements of their favorite songs appropriate to their level of proficiency. All students who are new to the instrument will begin learning how to read music during the first lesson and will gain an understanding of the musical theory concepts at work in the pieces they study.
