Fun Facts
I am a huge fan of The Big Bang Theory, Doctor Who, and MCU. "You watch TBBT, I am living it." That's how I would describe my graduate school years. Moved from upstate NY to Texas after graduation, much prefer the hot summers than never-ending snowy winter. I spend my free time gardening, knitting, playing the piano and singing.
About Me
I got my Ph.D. in Chemistry from Binghamton University, SUNY. Moved to Texas recently. I want to focus on building my family these couple of years before head out to fetch a research or lab management job in the industry.
Experience
I had extended experience in all topics of Chemistry. Two years of General Chemistry teaching assistantship, one year of Inorganic Chemistry teaching assistantship, one year of lecturing General Chemistry, and various course development for high school chemistry and college chemistry labs. I had been a freelance tutor during my graduate school years and helped a number of students improve their test scores. more importantly, understand the concept. I speak both English and Mandarin.
Approach
Knowledge is power. Teachers help to empower the next generation. My first teaching experience can be traced back to my third grade. As a good student, I was asked to explain a math concept to my classmates in five minutes. That was when I realize teaching is very different from just knowing it. As a tutor, I like to focus on students understanding of the concept and build connections of their knowledge, not just know how, but know WHY!
