Fun Facts

I was one of those kids who tried multiple hobbies (including the recorder) but never continued. High school introduced me to color guard, which was my life! I learned how to perform and express myself in an activity where I can be passionate, dedicated, and energetic. I love being happy, and making others happy and seeing others happy makes me happy! I'm just a ball of energy ready to help!

About Me

I am currently a freshman at University of California, San Diego. I am a human biology major with a 3.929 GPA. As a result, I received the Provost Honors. After college, I aspire to attend USC's dental school, receive a D.D.S. degree to become a dentist, following in both my parents footsteps.

During my freshman year of high school, I tutored another fellow freshman in first year Spanish because I had previously taken my frst year Spanish in middle school. During this one-on-one volunteer experience, I learned to give the student memorization skills, as well as developed a bond with that student. In my sophomore year of high school, I tutored for Reading Partners in maryland/pasadena">Pasadena, helping elementary students improve their reading skills by reading with them one-on-one. I was assigned three specific students who I would work with during the semester, all of whom improved their reading skills. In my junior year I also took a class called "Elementary Education," where we would be a teaching assistant in the surrounding elementary school. My lead teacher directed me to work with students one-on-one, or in a small group, to reteach/review the math lessons with them, to help them with their homework, and to help enhance their memorization of basic arithmetic.

Color guard has taught me that emotions can be "contagious;" for example, remaining energetic and happy during a 5-hour rehearsal will help the other members continue to spin practice. Furthermore, when performing, if we want to keep the audience engaged and amused, we need to engage with them, like with an energetic and tireless appearance. Therefore, whenever I tutor students, I always try to appear happy and fun, giving positive reinforcements and rewarding my students with cheers and high-fives, even if for a small accomplishment, because I don't want them to get overwhelmed and give up because they think there is too much work to be done. In addition, I will teach with questions and repetition to keep them engag
