My husband and I volunteer on a fireworks crew that does the Elephant Butte, NM Fourth of July and the Albuquerque, NM Balloon Fiesta shows.
I graduated high school in Tennessee and college in Kentucky. We moved to New Mexico so that my husband could complete his Master's in engineering from New Mexico Tech. His degree brought us to Albuquerque where he received a job at Sandia National
About Me
I tutored elementary and high school students my freshman and sophomore years of college. During my senior year, I was hired by my university to albuquerque">tutor my peers. After relocating to New Mexico, I became an educational assistant for the first, second, and fifth grades as well as an AVID albuquerque">tutor for first generation college bound high school students. Later, I was selected to be the onsite coordinator for Graduate New Mexico at Magdalena Municipal Schools.
I was a substitute teacher in Albuquerque and accepted a long term sub position teaching math-middle-school/new-mexico/albuquerque">middle school math. After the school year ended, I became a treatment coordinator for children in foster care with emotional and behavioral needs.
I focus on my students' strengths and utilize them to build confidence and to address the areas that are causing difficulties. I encourage my students to talk through their thought processes so I can understand their perspectives. Lastly, I build a curriculum unique to the individual taking care to reflect and plan according to the students current situation.
