Fun Facts
I love playing all sports, but my favorite sport is soccer (my favorite team is Arsenal). In my free time, I like to play video games. During the summer, I like to volunteer for a charity organization organizes humanitarian aid trips for HIV victims in the Dominican Republic. I'm passionate about both science and teaching. I especially love molecular biology, where I learn the complex chemistry going on in biological systems.
About Me
I'm a junior at Rutgers University and I'm majoring in Cell Biology and Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry. I plan on applying to medical school in the near future; I hope to obtain an M.D. with a specialization in Emergency Medicine. I love teaching, so I currently work as an undergraduate teaching intern/learning assistant for organic chemistry. I tie my students' success to my own effectiveness as a teacher, so I invest as much effort as I can into every student.
Experience
I worked as a private tutor throughout high school with students in middle and high school. I currently volunteer at my local elementary school with disadvantaged 1st-4th graders with parents that don't speak English or are not home to help teach their kids. I've been teaching organic chemistry at Rutgers for about a year now and I've had the opportunity to work with a variety of students.
Approach
When I first started teaching, I wasn't very successful because I found that it was hard to explain things someone else! Since I work as a teaching intern, I took a pedagogy course that taught me modern theories of the learning process and how to help people learn. Going off of pedagogical theory, I like to use a student-centered style of teaching. I try focus on how a student learns and how to best help him/her.

Chemistry I Tutoring
Being a chemistry minor, I've taken general chemistry, chemical bonding, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. As a teaching intern, I've faced a broad range of questions related to chemistry. I've also started to develop a systematic approach to remembering and understanding topics in chemistry.
Genetics Tutoring
As a pre-medical student and a Cell Biology major, I've completed genetics and biochemistry and I'm currently taking molecular biology. I've learned about genetics in various ways and in different levels of complexity across all three of these courses.
Organic Chemistry I Tutoring
Being a chemistry minor, I've taken general chemistry, chemical bonding, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. As a teaching intern, I've faced a broad range of questions related to chemistry. I've also started to develop a systematic approach to remembering and understanding topics in chemistry.
