Fun Facts

I absolutely love music! I attend many concerts and music festivals in my free time. I also play the clarinet, saxophone, and piano. I used to train for dance when I was younger, and I dance in my own free time! I'm very active and I enjoy cardio, so you might see me on a quick destress run. I am a first-generation college student, and I have one younger brother. I enjoy traveling as well, so I hope to study-abroad at some point in my undergraduate education!

About Me

I am an incoming sophomore B.S. Human Physiology major at Boston University in the Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. I also intend to minor in either Latin or Music Performance. I used to be a B.A. major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences. I've been on the Dean's list for my freshman year. I hope to attend medical school at UC Davis or UT Southwestern for my graduate education. My ultimate career goal is to become a Forensic Pathologist.

Experience

At BU, I had the opportunity to volunteer with children in south Boston and tutor them in various scientific disciplines through hands-on experiments. Throughout my upperclassman years in high school, I volunteered to stay in my mathematics, biology, and latin teachers' tutorials (both morning and afternoon) to tutor my peers or underclassmen in the material that they were learning. I have tutored my peers in mathematics throughout college as well due to my achievements.

Approach

Growing up in Garland, TX, I excelled in academically. However, the transition from my high school to a prestigious university truly made me realize just how large socioeconomic learning gap was, especially as a first-generation student. However, tutoring my peers has helped me feel closer and more useful to the student body. After finishing my first year in my undergraduate education, I have learned more about myself, which helped me figure out how I learn and study best.
