About Me
It's been said that I bring out the best in others. I adore being a catalyst for positive change in people. While I am typically warm and empathetic, I am capable of being assertive and stern when necessary. Leading others comes natural to me, and I love a challenge! I am actively involved in my community hoping for an opportunity to be a great resource to others.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler in May of 2013. I worked full time during the latter years of my undergraduate studies while still maintaining an overall grade point average of 3.46. I am currently in a state of exploration pursuing graduate level courses in psychology, education, and education/texas/dallas">special education.
Experience
As a member of AmeriCorps, I had the great opportunity to volunteer in service to my community through mentoring and dallas">tutoring in all subject areas. My primary focus was educating at-risk youth in the South Dallas community. Additionally, I managed and tutored for a small dallas">tutoring agency while studying in Tyler, Texas. The organization prepared students grades 5-8 for the general standardized state exams.
Approach
My dallas">tutoring approach is very personal. I get to know my students personally, thus I am able to learn their strengths and weaknesses as individuals. I grow to understand my students and their personal and educational goals. My students genuinely get to know me as an individual, so they understand I truly carry their best interests in my heart.
