Fun Facts
I have several hobbies but all revolve around cooking, such as making ice cream, learning new recipes. When I'm not stuck inside studying for the CPA I generally like to be outdoors hiking or doing something in the sun. However the most fun I have is trying new restaurants with my wife.
About Me
I am a recent graduate from the MSA program of San Diego State and spend the majority of my free time studying for the CPA which I plan to complete before my start date in the the Risk Assurance Practice for the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in early August. While at State I was a graduate assistant for Dr. Venable in the accounting program, was a part of six separate honor societies, and graduated Cum Laude. My Specialization is Accounting Information Systems, however I am also proficient in Tax, and Audit.
As a graduate assistant my duties revolved more around grading and proctoring exams however I did work with various students or a semi regular basis if they were having trouble int he class. Additionally I worked for several semesters with the not-for-profit Junior Achievement doing in class work with grade school age children.
Generally when working with a student my first priority is to figure out the manner in which the student is attempting to understand the material. Once you can see the issue through the students eyes it is easier to appropriately guide their thinking.
I tend to have a lot of patience and understanding because my academic career has been a bit roundabout. After high school I did not have the desire or drive to study at a university level and dropped out of school for several years. After getting kicked around for a while I found the determination to find a goal and continue my education. As a result I enjoy helping and seeing other succeed.
