Fun Facts
I’m interested in pretty much everything! Outside of school, you’ll catch me studying, reading, writing poetry, drawing, or latin dancing. I also love music, and have composed a few songs for the piano! I have five younger siblings, and love learning about new languages and cultures.
About Me
I am junior at Florida State University. I graduated high school in 2017 with the highest GPA in my class. I took a year off to work, eventually picking Florida State as my school of choice, and came into the school Fall of 2018 as a Sophomore (due to AP credits). I am a Spanish Major with a French minor. I am enrolled to get my TESOL certificate by the end of next Fall semester. My ultimate career goal is to teach English to speakers of foreign languages either abroad or here in the States.
Experience
I tutored French and flute throughout high school and volunteered as a member of the National Honor Society and of campus ministry. I worked at a Vacation Bible School and babysat throughout high school, while also being the oldest of six- I know a lot about kids! Over the summer I was a volunteer as an assistant in an English as a Second Language classroom with the International Rescue Committee’s Atlanta Location, where I taught refugees in a women's literacy class.
Approach
From a young age, I have loved teaching and learning in a wide range of subjects. I believe students benefit the most from positive reinforcement and encouragement, and intend to implement that ideology through goal-oriented learning. In other words, I want to work with students and parents by first finding and setting goals, and then by creating milestones to reach that goal on a specific timeline. I like to learn about a student as much as possible, and to find and use their learning style.

Spanish with a TESOL Certificate
American Sign Language Tutoring
I have taken multiple community courses and one course at FSU in American Sign Language. My boyfriend and many of my friends are Deaf. I study ASL and Deaf culture extensively outside of class, and work everyday towards becoming a better ally of the Deaf community.
AP English Tutoring
I am comfortable tutoring for the AP English Language and Composition course. I took the course in high school and received an A, along with the award for most outstanding student in the class. I have practice regarding pacing myself in timed writing, which is a skill crucial to success in the class.
ESL Tutoring
I am currently enrolled in the TESOL certificate program at Florida State University, which I will finish by the end of the Spring 2020 semester. I have experience tutoring ESL with native Spanish speakers, and volunteered in an ESL classroom catered towards refugees this past summer. Teaching ESL at a non-for-profit is my prospective long term career goal.
French Tutoring
I have taken overall 6 years of French and visited Francophone countries several times. Much of my family speaks French. I received an A in my Intermediate French class at FSU last semester. I have gotten A’s in all of my previous French classes. I am a French minor.
Geography Tutoring
I am skilled in Geography and have received A’s in the two Geography courses I have taken. I have helpful memorization tricks for learning Geography, and enjoy learning about the language, culture, and ecosystem in any geographical area.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have received near perfect to perfect scores on reading comprehension sections of standardized tests throughout my school career. I have read advanced literature and know how to best explain reading passages and teach students how to understand them. I am also proficient at teaching timed reading.

I am currently enrolled in the fourth progressive Spanish course at FSU. I have received A’s in all of my past Spanish classes and do extensive work outside of class to progress further. My boyfriend and many of my friends are Hispanic; thus I have a lot of real world practice with the language. I am a Spanish major and plan to study abroad in Costa Rica summer semester of 2020.

I enjoy working with children and teenagers to open their minds to the wonder of language and culture that comes along with this beautiful language.
Study Skills Tutoring
I have practiced and developed study skills throughout my schooling career, and know the work necessary for myself to receive the grades I desire. I am excited at the prospect of helping others learn a studying system that works for them; I plan to focus most on planning and organizing as a basis for later study habits (such as studying activities).
Social Studies Tutoring
I have taken up to college level Social Studies (World History, American History, U.S. Government) as well as many Geography classes throughout my school career. I have a lot of experience teaching young children through volunteer work I have done and through helping out my five younger siblings!
