About Me
I am a recent college graduate of boston-university">Boston University's School of Education where I majored in Social Studies Education and minored in Political Science. There, I studied under the leading minds in the education field while also engaging in several experience-based practicums ranging from grades 4-12. Although my specialty is in history and political science, my experience in other areas qualifies me to boston">tutor in those subjects.
My boston">tutoring experience dates all the way back to high school, where I organized a school-wide, student-led boston">tutoring program. My last boston">tutoring job was at the Boston Arts Academy and Fenway High School in downtown Boston. There, I tutored students who were only at-risk of failing. One of my tutees was admimtted to UCLA for this past fall. I mostly tutored in 9th and 10th grade mathematics but also tutored in history and english for all of the high school grades.
My primary approach to teaching and boston">tutoring is two-fold. First, I feel that it's necessary to explain the significance of the material being presented first. If the tutee understands why he's being taught this material and how it could be used in the future, he or she will be more likely to move forward with their undivided attention. I also do my best to present the content in a relatable fasion. If the material is put in their terms and related to their interests, they will be more likely to engage in the learning process and grasp the information.
