In this year-long course we read western literature classics like The Iliad, The Decameron, Euripides' Bacchae, Plato's Symposium (and other works), Virgil's Aenied, Dante's Inferno, Cervantes' Don Quixote, and more. We also wrote critical essay based on this literature in which we were required to do close reading of particular passages, compare different genres and writing styles, and synthesize ideas into a coherent thesis.
