Fun Facts
I am an intellectual goofball, who often has my head up in the clouds pondering about life, yet down-to-earth and personable; my laughing gives myself away. I live by my mantra: "to stop learning is to stop growing, therefore, I am a student for life." I am a San Francisco native who loves and is familiar with the entire Bay Area. I am also usually tall for an Asian female but am happy to be unique as such. Green is my favorite color and is a common color seen on whatever I wear, because to me, it is the color of life.
About Me
Aside from being a "nerd," I love playing all kinds of sports, such as tennis, volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis, billiards, soccer, and more (listed from most favorite to least favorite). I also enjoy discovering new music to listen to, and can play some instruments (saxophone, piano, flute, a little bit of guitar). Some people eat to live, but I live to eat, so I like experimenting in the kitchen with cooking as well as food tasting. Lastly, science (especially Chemistry and Organic Chemistry) is, and forever will be, my most favorite subject.
As a Biochemistry and Biology graduate from UC Berkeley, my current goals lie in education and/or the medical field. I have a passion for teaching in its ability to bestow and share knowledge to empower others, and I also have a passion for using science to help heal others. Thus, I believe the two go well together hand-in-hand in the field of healthcare and/or teaching.
I have 4+ years of experience tutoring (one-on-one, group tutoring) and working as an afterschool educator in East Bay charter schools, such as Lionel Wilson Prep and Cal Prep, assisting in all areas of homework but my strengths lie primarily in Math and Science. I was also involved in the California State Tutor organization at Lowell High of San Francisco during my high school years.
"Enjoyable, Engaging, and With Purpose" is my tutoring philosophy. I tailor my tutoring towards each student's learning style and interests, and humor is always a given, to keep the students engaged and the materials relevant to them. I love getting to know my students and develop a sibling/mentor-like-yet-professional relationship with my students because I care about helping them become successful in education; it is my way of giving back to the community for what my education has given me.
