Fun Facts

When I was young, my friends called my "Mama Rudi." I was always looking out for everyone and making sure they were ok. Experiencing The "light bulb moment" or the "I got it" from a child is what I strive for when I am working with children. When they begin making connections, thinking outside the box, and begin understanding the skills being taught is what I desire to obtain from each child I encounter.

About Me

I received my undergraduate degree from The College of NJ and my graduate from Grand Canyon University. I have worked with children all my life. I have been a child care provider, a tutor, a camp counselor, and am currently a certified teacher. I have always had a knack for making learning fun and enjoyable by first building a relationship and then the learning can begin.

Experience

Professionally, I have taught in the inner city school system for over 20 years. My passion for teaching and helping young children exudes once I am around them. Having the opportunity to work one-on-one with a child will give me the opportunity to really build a relationship and truly be effective with each child that I encounter.

Approach

Many children who need tutors also need to learn how to focus. I will provide hands on tools that will help to engage the student while learning. Using various objectives and attention grabbers are key to helping a youngster maintain focus. It can be the sound of calming music, the squeeze of a soft ball or my silly sense of humor to help a child stay on task. My purpose will be finding out what his or her interest are and we will make academic magic happen moving forward.
