About Me
I am originally from Richmond, VA where I studied Social Work and Child Development. Now I am studying to become a Family Nutritionist. I am a part-time nanny and business owner.
Experience
I was a volunteer with several non-profit organizations in my city. The major ones I had the opportunity to tutor with were VA Mentorship Program and at Making a Difference for You INC. tutoring center. The students I worked with were Pre-K through 4th grade, I helped them with homework and understanding the materials they reviewed in class.
Approach
As a tutor (and teacher) I know that there are many different learning styles, being able to adapt my turtoring strategies to each child I work with is one of my key strengths.

Elementary Math Tutoring
I have always been good at math, in elementary school we had a Math Minute Challenge where you have to solve 100 problems in a minute, I always completed all 100 correctly within that time. I like to make math fun, especially at a young age, using manipulatives has always been my favorite way to teach. I tutored twin preschoolers in math as well as 1st grade and 3rd.
Biology Tutoring
Biology did not really relate to my studies however I really enjoyed taking it in high school and college, I received A's in all related classes. I even took an advance microbiology class.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have been a tutor to several children whose main need was helping them complete homework assignments.
Math Tutoring
Math has always come very easy to me, I maintained a A average in all classes from elementary school to college. I've taken all the normal classes through calculus, advance and applied algebra. I have also tutored both elementary and middle school students on math concepts and helping them complete and understand their homework. I do basic math everyday since I run a business and manage my home finances.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Reading comprehension grades were A's through grade school to college. I took a class in college called reading and study skills that has improved my thinking and study skills as a college student but I believe they are basic techniques that can be broken down and simplified for the younger reader. I also tutored a second grader in reading and comprehension for about a year.
Science Tutoring
In grade school I received straight A's in every science I took. I took microbiology, biology, earth and geology, and chemistry all of which I received A's in high school. College Biology receive an A. I still have a very deep interest in science in general.
Writing Tutoring
I attended Appomattox Governor's School for Arts and Technology, in this high school literary arts was my major. Not only did we discuss in dept the different writing styles and correct formats but I practiced these daily often submitting at least 2 essays a day along with several creative pieces.
Child Development Tutoring
In college I studied child development and psychology, I have been working with children at various developmental stages for 10 years now. I am currently working with children with developmental disabilities.
