Fun Facts

Though I live in DC now, I am originally from the Bay Area (go Warriors!) and every DC winter I miss the sunshine of the Golden State, I LOVE warm weather more than anything else! I am a citizen of both the United States and the Netherlands and am always looking for someone to speak Dutch too, mostly to no avail. And finally, I've been a dancer for 13 years and wish more people needed tutoring in ballet!

About Me

I am a current sophomore at the washington-university">George Washington University, majoring in International Relations, concentrating in International Development, and minoring in Biology. I have been on the Deans List each semester, take both French and Arabic at advanced levels, and have an extensive class background in accounting, economics, biology, and international development.

Experience

I have been a tutor now for four years, beginning sophomore year by tutoring AP Biology to students in my class. In junior year I was hired by the school to officially tutor AP Biology, as well as Honors Biology, Marine Biology, and regular Biology. Senior year I continued with that job and began tutoring math outside of school. I tutored students in Algebra, Geometry, Geometry Honors, and Algebra II. In college, I joined Sanderson Test Prep and began tutoring high schoolers in the ACT and SAT.

Approach

I find great joy in tutoring, and believe while learning should be the first priority, having fun and building long-lasting correct techniques should as well be important goals. Through working with Sanderson Test Prep, and its training, I have come to develop my own style of incorporating immediate results, long-term habits, and an overall good time in all my tutoring sessions.

English Tutoring

I completed the standard freshman English writing and language class, in which I earned an A+, and won a highly coveted award for excellence in writing in the freshman class.

ESL Tutoring

I taught English as a second language to Burmese refugees on the border of Thailand for two years.

Macro Economics Tutoring

I completed an upperclassman college level Macro Economics class, and finished with a high A, the highest grade in the class.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

I tutor the Reading Comprehension section of the ACT and SAT, which have incredibly similar test-taking methods and reading comprehension skills to those of college.

I tutor study skills to college students in writing and languages. I am trained weekly on improving study skills.

I have taken AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature. I earned an A in each class and 5 on each AP test. I have tutored AP English for two years, and receive weekly training on tutoring English.

AP History Tutoring

I have taken AP US History and AP Human Geography, as well as History 1500 to Present in college. I earned an A in each class. I have tutored AP History for two years, and receive weekly training on tutoring History.

Arts Tutoring

I have been a dancer for 13 years. I have been a dance teacher for four years. I can tutor Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Hip-hop.

I have taken AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Honors Biology. I earned an A in each class and 4 on each AP test.
