Fun Facts
I am an avid reader and writer. I've had a few minor works published in literary journals and hope to have more published soon. I love storytelling and the many forms it takes. Reading is my preferred medium but I also enjoy film and television. Most people find me relatable and easy to get along with. I'm a people person who likes to leave a positive impact on anyone I meet.
About Me
Currently I am a part-time educational assistant/ middle-school teacher. I am great at getting kids excited about reading and learning. I enjoy working one on one with students.
I have bachelor's degrees in English and Religious Studies. I also have an associate degree in Liberal Arts, Integrated Studies, and English.
Experience
I am a part time middle school and high school teacher. I specialize in teaching Language Arts and Social Studies. Throughout my college career I've tutored various students in English, writing and literature. When I worked at an Asian restaurant I taught English as a second language to some of my co-workers. I love working with people and helping them learn.
Approach
How I teach and tutor differs from one client to the next. I asses where the difficulties lie and then customize an approach to address it. My sessions are tailored towards the client's wants and needs. In the begining I will often stop and check to make sure everything is being addressed. I welcome questions and feedback. Religion Tutoring
I am minoring in Religious Studies and have taken classes on all the world Religions.
English Tutoring
I am an English major at the University of New Mexico and have taken a multitude of English classes specializing in analysis, grammar, and essay composition. I have tutored many friends, family members and fellow students in this area. I also have taught basic English conventions to non-native English speakers.

I have a BA in English. During college I tutored many of my classmates and helped them pass their classes. I am currently applying for grad school and am very familiar with undergraduate writing requirements.
ESL Tutoring
I have taught ESL classes at middle school and high school.
I also worked at an Asian restaurant for six years. Once they heard I was a 'writer' multiple co-workers came to me for help with English. I also helped write menus, study for citizenship exam and other things that require knowing English. I know a bit of Vietnamese and Spanish because I traded English lessons for lessons in those languages.
Literature Tutoring
I have a BA in English, but I've studied literature extensively before and after college. Literature is one of my passions, so I am always learning more and taking extra classes. I've taught literature to many students of different levels.
Philosophy Tutoring
I almost had a double major in English and Philosophy, but I just wanted to finish school. Getting a double major would have taken one extra semester. Regardless, I took many philosophy classes in college and study philosophy on my own. I might not be able to teach upper level college philosophy, but everything else I can. Reading philosophy books is a hobby of mine.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I teach reading comprehension when I am teaching middle and high school. I excel at helping students learn to read in ways that work for them. There's no 'one size fits all' for reading comprehension, so I've learned to identify the obstacles and then work on removing them. This is something I seem to be very good at.
I've also taught reading comprehension outside of school to adults who didn't learn English as a first language.
Religion Tutoring
I have a minor in Religious Studies, however I study religion in my free time so I have a great handle on all the different world religions.
Study Skills Tutoring
Being a teacher is, in part, teaching students how to manage time and study. Each individual is different and I'll create tailored approaches for each student.
Writing Tutoring
Writing is my passion. I have a BA in English and am headed to grad school next year for writing. I teach writing in schools, but also excel at teaching it as a tutor. I am a published author.
