About Me

Hello!
My name is Paige Lathan and I am a wayne-state-university">Wayne State University student majoring in broadcast journalism. I am a Michigan-native but I did my grade school and high school studies in Brooklyn, NY. There, I was enrolled into accelerated programs in which the primary focus was English and language. Although I plan to graduate in December, learning is something I plan to do the rest of my life.

brooklyn">Tutoring is something I love to do! Seeing a student that I've helped succeed is definitely a reward all in itself. My first job was an after-school brooklyn">tutor for a daycare back in Brooklyn where I helped a group of about 12 students complete their homework every day. I stayed at this job for about a year until I moved back to Michigan.

Being a visual learner myself, I utilize a lot of pictorials and real-life examples to help students better understand the material; I then like to follow up with random checkpoints to make sure the student is understanding what is being taught throughout the lesson. Throughout my experiences, I find that personalizing the lessons to fit each and every student is important in order for them to understand and retain the information. Giving students confidence and encouragement are key elements that they could use not only for the upcoming test, but for a lifetime.
