Fun Facts
One fun fact is that I have a wide variety of interests so I am capable of relating to many people. I like many colors, but my favorite color is green. I enjoy the sciences. I have a younger sibling so I can relate to younger children. I attended Catholic school from kindergarten to the end of high school.
About Me
I am in my third year of college at California State University, Los Angeles. My major is Biology. When I graduate, my career goal is to become a crime scene investigator.
For high school, I did my community service at my elementary school, where I occasionally tutored the students with their school work. The subjects that I helped them with were primarily math and english. I volunteered at my old school throughout all four years of high school. All of the children were from different backgrounds and responded differently to the tutoring, but they benefited from the help. I also occasionally help my younger sister with her homework. She usually asks for some quick help here and there.
I have realized that every person has a different method of learning. I, for example, learn by seeing and doing something. In order to connect to students, I will have to be able to determine the most efficient way they can learn. Each student learns in different ways so using the same tutoring approach on every student would not be beneficial. Every student will need a specific method of teaching. Once I am able to find the best way to tutor them, I will help them with all of their questions. The most important thing is that the children feel that they are able to ask me any questions they have.
