Fun Facts

I tend to be a very busy person, but when I have some free time, I enjoy biking and hanging out with my pup, Wally. I am fluent in American Sign Language. I love teaching!

About Me

I am a classroom teacher at St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in Buffalo (SMSD), NY. I am a creative, patient, energetic teacher. I have a Master of Science in Secondary Education. I also hold dual NYS Certification in Deaf Education and English Language Arts for grades 7-12. I love making the learning process fun and memorable, so the knowledge students gain in tutoring stays with them.

Experience

As a classroom teacher at St. Mary's School for the Deaf, I have taught 6-7 different courses each day. In addition to my regular instruction, I have offered 1:1 tutoring services for students who need additional support. I have also been involved in various extra-curricular activities where I have provided instruction.

Prior to my my full-time teaching position, I worked as a teacher assistant, providing individualized support for ELLs.

Approach

Every day of teaching is an opportunity to learn something new and exciting with my students. I empower my students to share my desire to learn by challenging them to see opportunities to learn in every aspect of their lives. My classroom is a safe place where students ask questions and the process of discovery is shared by all. When students leave my class, they are more curious, open-minded, and confident to be closer to understanding and realizing their futures.
