Fun Facts
I'm an English major because I love words. I love to name things; it's like a one-word poem. I'm thinking of writing a children's book about a paper-white crane and a Great Blue Heron.
I love to cook, and since I just got married I get to do it all the time. It's like living on a playground! I also like to get out of doors, mostly just to look around.
About Me
I have attended Central Piedmont Community College for three semesters, the first as a dual-enrolled high school student. Once I've completed my Associate's Degree in English, I hope to transfer to a university (probably charlotte">UNC Charlotte) and get my BA in the same subject. Ultimately, I would like to teach and/or charlotte">tutor English to high school students.
I was home schooled all the way till college, and having younger siblings gave me the opportunity to charlotte">tutor all sorts of things, even subjects I wasn't completely comfortable with. English is, of course, my strong suit, and I have worked with children of various ages on everything from poetry to book reports. There isn't anything word-related that I don't enjoy doing, and all of it I love to teach.
In order to learn anything, and in order to accomplish much at all, a person has to know how to use language. The ability to properly and effectively communicate in written and spoken English is the goal of my charlotte">tutoring. I understand that all people are different, and with each student I try to fit my instruction to their individual needs, goals, and even a little to what they like. I particularly enjoy helping students see the beauty of words, and that influences everything I do, but the most important thing to me is that they get what they personally need out of their education.
