Fun Facts
I love salsa music and dancing in my time off. It is great exercise and a great way to meet people. I also go to the gym and love exploring new places.
About Me
I have a BA in Psychology, with a minor in Spanish and a MA in Pubic Administration. I've had a 30 year career in federal gov't, mostly in labor law. I'm hoping to use my skills to help tutor students, so that they can be successful, as well. I have 2 grown kids, who I tutored and both graduated with BA degrees and have great jobs.
Experience
I've been an EEO Specialist with different agencies and a Wage and Hour Investigator with the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Both jobs required math, data analysis and report writing that was subject to review by attorneys.
Approach
My approach to being successful in school is to get disciplined and organized with study habits. Each student should set a schedule of 2-3 hours a day to study, with a couple of breaks. Taking notes from reading and lectures and reviewing them is essential. Positive reinforcement and persistence is important to build up the student's confidence. I never thought I'd succeed in pursuing a MA degree, but it was easier than I thought. Just taking it one day at a time, is the way to go.
