Fun Facts

I've always loved writing, though that love manifests in varied ways. I used to write Op-Eds, published anywhere from the Washington Post and USAToday to the Huffington Post. Later in high school I wrote short stories, winning awards from the scholastic arts and writing competition. Senior year I had to use a pen name for half of the stories I wrote in my school's literary magazine because my name was in there too often. Now I'm wrapping up a TV show with a friend. We're filming in the fall.

About Me

I am a third year applied math major and film minor at the chicago">University of Chicago. I'm taking fall quarter off of school but plan to go back in the winter. I have extremely varied interests. My clubs senior year are a good example. I was on the varsity tennis team, president of the swing dance club and founder and president of the Girls Who Code club. I was the anchor of my school's news show and got second place in a state wide architectural renovation competition. I don't know what I want to do

Experience

I've tutored privately since I was in the eighth grade. When my family lived in Germany, I tutored a couple girls in my school at various levels in English. I tutored one girl who was a couple years younger than me for two years, four days a week. She now goes to school in England. So I feel like I did a fairly OK job. I've also tutored math privately. This is my first experience tutoring through an organization, so I'm excited to try it out.

Approach

I treat students as adults. I treat them with respect and expect them to do the same with me. Every student I've had, regardless of how little confidence they had in their abilities up front, only had to look at the problem differently. If you can get a student to explain a complex subject to you simply, then they understand it - that's my goal.
