Fun Facts

Soccer was my first passion! Things got intense in high school (hs). My life consisted of 6 AM practices, weekend tournaments, and 15 hour days during hs season. It was a lot at times, and I loved it. My sophomore year I verbally accepted an offer from Pepperdine University. But soon after, I tore my ACL and had to quit the sport. I was bummed. Until, my hs's cheer coach encouraged me to try out for cheer. I ended up joining the team for my last two years of hs and even cheered in college.

About Me

I graduated from UCLA in 2018 with a BA in philosophy. At first, I only majored in philosophy to prepare for la school. But I ended up loving it! I graduated with a 3.8 overall GPA and served as the philosophy club's president my last two years of school. After graduating, I took a job in San Francisco to re-explore my interest in law. Now I'm in D.C looking for more opportunities to grow before applying for a JD/PhD. My goal is to integrate law, with moral and political philosophies.

Experience

I have 6+ years of tutoring experience. In high school, I was a general after school tutor. Once in college I realized my strengths and focused my help. I've worked as an Essay Specialist, Academic Mentor, UC APP Specialist, as well as an English, humanities, special needs tutor. Yet, I consider myself a talented tutor, regardless the subject. My favorite experiences have been co-teaching a 5th grade visual math class and serving as community manager for underprivileged communities in the Bay.

Approach

I'm a huge believer in conceptual learning. My academic background has taught me many things. The most important among them has been: there is an obvious difference between memorization and understanding. As a tutor, I aim to foster understanding by relating academic concepts to the real world. Whether that concept be a note taking method or Capitalism, I aim to teach students the purpose of what they're learning is. I've come to find this approach allows for material to resonate and works best!
