Fun Facts

One thing that most people don't know about me is that I love sports! Anything from football to playing disc golf in the park! I also like going on hikes and being outdoors! I have two younger siblings, one who is currently in college and the other who just started her first year of high school. I currently substitute teach in different districts and love hanging out with kids! Over the summers I also am a summer camp counselor and go on lots of different field trips to different parts of Denver

About Me

I am currently a graduate student at CU Denver studying school counseling! Before that, I earned my bachelors in psychology from Black Hills State University in South Dakota. I played running back for 5 years there, and was fortunate enough to become the schools All-Time Leading Rusher! There have been many times in which I have used my skills that I have learned from football such as teamwork, dedication, and perseverance,to help me with my school studies. I am looking forward to this with you!

Experience

During college, I was able to become a peer mentor to students who were transitioning into college. I was able to help them with study skills as well as connect them to resources on campus. I also helped prepare them for tests and learn what it takes to succeed in college both socially and academically. I also substitute teach in a variety of school settings which helps me work with all types of students with varying degree of knowledge and experience. I am also in college which keeps me fresh!

Approach

School was not easy for me growing up. A lot of times I would need help with homework or I would have to come in outside of class times to understand certain subjects. I bring a unique perspective to the tutoring environment as I view it as a collaborative environment where we both learn more as we go along! I think the best relationships we make are the ones that constantly challenge us to improve, while also accepting who we are.I strive to bring this approach to students and people everywhere
