About Me

I'm a published writer and an experienced tutor. I'm particularly passionate about helping students learn to engage with material and express themselves in effective ways.

Experience

I have expertise working with students in ways that are both effective and kind. I have worked with school aged students I have also tutored elementary aged students in language arts and study skills, developing lesson plans that engage my students around core competencies. I have also worked with college students on fine tuning their writing. It is always my goal to both help students improve their grades while also developing the skills necessary to approach academic challenges more broadly.

Approach

My training was characterized by a focus on collaborative learning and process-based strategies for writing. Since this initial training, I have worked with hundreds of students and have come to believe that this approach—which prizes a student’s strengths while working with them on strategies to overcome weakness—does more than simply teach material; it empowers students.
