Fun Facts
Though I was born to a sports family and am extremely competitive, I am a huge theatre buff. After seeing my first play at two years old, I fell in love. I found myself onstage. Now, years later, I write arts and theatre reviews for my college newspaper. I also have been an extra on ABC's "Castle" and have performed off-Broadway, two of my favorite memories.
About Me
Hello! My name is Sarah Burke and I am a senior at the Catholic University of America with a specialty in English and Philosophy. I currently hold a 3.8 and am planning to enter law school after taking a year off to work. I would like to work as an attorney in Boston, and plan to move there after graduation. I am the News Editor at Catholic University's paper, am the Vice President of our English Society, and currently have a job on campus as well as an internship blogging for a golf publication.
I am the News Editor at my college newspaper, so correcting work for style, grammar, and tone is something I do multiple times per week. Though this is not strictly "washington-dc">tutoring" per se, I believe it embodies the same spirit. Also, as resident English major in my group of friends, I am often washington-dc">tutoring them in their essay-writing.
I've learned through my experience as an English major and News Editor the true power of words. I believe helping people find the words they need to express the thoughts in their minds is something unbelievably important. washington-dc">Tutoring would be something constructive and educational for both parties. Like so many of my best teachers, I think leading someone to a conclusion is far better than spoon-feeding it to them.
