About Me

I competed at the NCAA division one level as a swimmer at Loyola maryland">University of Maryland for two years. I chose to stop that to pursue my academic and professional goals. I still attend Loyola as a junior Materials Engineering major with a minor in Mathematics. I plan to act on an internship opportunity this summer and work on trains for the Port Authority in New York.

My maryland/maryland/baltimore">baltimore">tutoring experience is minimal yet strongly backed. In high school and middle school I was involved in a program to help both younger peers and under-privileged students who needed help in school. In addition to this experience, I have ample experience with children. I was a camp counselor at the age of 15. Through high school, I was the assistant and eventually head coach of the Trumbull, CT Special Olympics swimming team. I feel as if my strong experience in teaching myself through challenging classes, I will be able to convey my methods to others in a helpful and friendly manner.

My first priority is to get a baseline, that is, where exactly the tutee stands on the subject. In many cases, especially in math and science, the root of the problem lies in some fundamental principles. A review and comprehension of these principles is often the solution to the issue at hand. If that does not apply or does not work, the problem at hand has to be addressed. If a simple trick or method of learning is applicable, now is when it will be used. Although largely case by case, I would review some very basic review problems and then work into increasingly more challenging problems making sure to keep the root idea or method clear.
