Fun Facts

I have a passion for food sparked by my grandmother's ten pound swedish feasts. For the past three summers, I have worked in a professional kitchen. Most summer days find me either creating confections in the pastry department or preparing dishes for special functions. I am a 10th generation Vermonter, so I have been imbued with a love for maple syrup and cheese.

About Me

Although I am currently undeclared, I am leaning towards a Classics Major at the chicago">University of Chicago. My interest in the ancient world stems from a curiosity about how early cultures interacted with literature and myth. I am currently taking an art history class in Athenian Vase Painting in which I have found a new source and inspiration for an archeological interpretation of the ancient hellenic culture. Upon graduation, I wish to pursue either a career in research or preservation.

I have worked a variety of age groups. Membership in the National Honors Society required community service hours. I chose to spend mine in the summertime chicago">tutoring at my local elementary school's summer school. Additionally, I spent my senior year chicago">tutoring Congolese refugees with english.

The best teachers that I have had are the ones who both expect me to be motivated while providing the positive encouragement and engagement to make it possible to meet those expectations. This is the teaching style I attempt to emulate. As a chicago">tutor, I attempt to create an environment where I am providing the correct context for learning. This way, no matter their areas of interest, they can find an engaging connection in the subject in which they need help. I love learning, and it is my job to ask the right questions and provide the correct environment for the student so they are able to be successful
