Fun Facts
I am new to New Mexico where I live in Albuquerque with my husband and our two cats. I love reading and I often use my local library. This summer I took a class in water color painting and I have been practicing since then, it is fun but tricky!
About Me
I graduated Manga Cum Laude from Dickinson college (May 2014, GPA: 3.88, deans list 6 semesters) with a Bachelor of Science in biology with honors. I received two special awards for biology research. I then entered a master's program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I studied bees, graduating with an MS in entomology (May 2017, GPA 3.676) and receiving a scholarship grant. My next goal is to work in environmental education.
Experience
In graduate school I volunteered and designed materials for children’s educational science events I have also had the opportunity both in undergraduate and graduate school to tutor my peers and instruct courses in biology. After graduating I was able to work directly with a younger age group as a preschool teacher where I developed lessons and especially enjoyed bringing science into the classroom.
Approach
Through outreach and teaching, I can contribute to a positive future by sharing with others an appreciation for learning. Myself, I always seemed to take longer to finish work than my peers, and I appreciated teachers taking the time to rephrase concepts and address questions. As a tutor I enjoy interacting with students and sharing my own enthusiasm for science. I concentrate on helping to build understanding in approachable ways and finding something that works for the individual.
