Fun Facts

One of the great loves of my life is my dog, Rosie, who’s a rescue from Puerto Rico. I love crafting (big Martha Stewart fan over here), and have recently taken up embroidery and jigsaw puzzles. I’d love to become a better baker, and one day, I hope to publish a series of books.

About Me

I was a teacher in my hometown of Washington, DC for 6 years. I went to school in New England and definitely missed the changing of the leaves while in DC! I’d eventually love to combine my communication and creative problem solving skills to support positive social change.

Experience

I have been a tutor in a variety of settings for over ten years. In addition to my experience as a teacher, as a tutor I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten through high school on a number of skills, strategies, and subjects, including reading comprehension, essay writing, test preparation and strategies, geometry, and elementary math. With each student and family I have developed a strong foundational relationship built upon trust and the student’s individuality.

Approach

My work and success as a teacher and tutor has been dependent on my commitment to students as individuals, the joy inherent in learning and celebrating challenges, and a belief in strong relationships as the foundation for growth and progress. I became a teacher because I believe that any child can learn and succeed, and that it is a privilege to work with children and families and help shape their academic paths.
