Fun Facts
I used to play and teach professional chess.
About Me
I am a recent college graduate from Drexel University with a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on bio mechanics. I am currently working as a civil engineer. I love math and I think the key to helping struggling students is showing them the beauty of the structures behind math.
Experience
I have worked as a tutor, and have been a volunteer tutor through high school and college. I am very comfortable working with elementary and middle school students also from my several years working as a chess coach.
Approach
In math, there are often several approaches to come to a solution. In my experience, students excel when they are allowed to find the approach that works best for them. However, some teachers and standardized tests require a specific approach. Showing students that multiple techniques come to the same answer and teaching students to master several approaches increases overall understanding.

MastersCalculus I Tutoring
Calculus I to III are usually the most difficult subjects any student will take in college. On the other hand, Calculus is my favorite subject to teach. There is something about adding up a huge number of tiny things that is difficult to get your head around, but once you do, it lays the foundation for all of calculus. As an advanced student of mathematics, I took all of Calculus I-III in high school, but I have continued to tutor them and am very much still sharp on them. I never received less than an A in any Calculus course, and my Mechanical Engineering degree continued to use calculus applied in other subjects, like thermodynamics. I have tutored Calculus at all levels, from AP Calc in high school to Senior Business Calculus in college, and I take the approach of utilizing different learning strategies to find the best fit for my client.

Mechanical Engineering Tutoring
Mechanical Engineering is my bread and butter: this is what my Master's Degree is in. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.51, maintaining mostly A's and some B's throughout my degree. I understand these concepts well, and have even been a TA for some Mechanical Engineering courses. I have tutored students in various Mechanical Engineering courses, especially statics.
Math Tutoring
College math for most students is Algebra I and sometimes Algebra II. This is where the bulk of my tutoring experience is. I have taken and received As in all of my Algebra courses. A lot of Algebra focuses on various problem solving strategies to reach the same results. I like to work with my students to understand these strategies and find the best strategy for them.
Math Advance Tutoring
College math for most students is Algebra I and sometimes Algebra II. This is where the bulk of my tutoring experience is. I have taken and received As in all of my Algebra courses. A lot of Algebra focuses on various problem solving strategies to reach the same results. I like to work with my students to understand these strategies and find the best strategy for them.
Physics I Tutoring
Physics is the science closest to math, and is often referred to as applied mathematics. I have taken several Physics classes in college, and have gotten As in all of them. A strong foundation of mathematics will help any physics student, and I have often been able to help clients by refreshing them on mathematical concepts they might have missed.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
Precalculus is perhaps the most important math course in college. It is quite literally the foundation for calculus courses and I insist on all of my clients understanding the concepts behind the exercises they do here, as it will help them succeed in calculus courses. I took Precalculus and received an A in it, which helped me receive an A in Calculus I, II, and III.
Trigonometry Tutoring
Trigonometry, after Geometry, is the most visual mathematics course. I have a collection of images and videos that I use in my tutoring to help students understand the parts of a circle and how they form trigonometric functions. I took trigonometry in high school, and received an A in it. Since then, I have tutored trigonometry a few times, and I feel that my approach has helped students succeed where many other approaches would not. Forcing students to memorize equations never leads to long term success, and visualizing Trigonometry helps students figure out equations for themselves.
Algebra Tutoring
Algebra I and II is where the bulk of my tutoring experience is. I have taken and received As in all of my Algebra courses. A lot of Algebra focuses on various problem solving strategies to reach the same results. I like to work with my students to understand these strategies and find the best strategy for them.
Algebra II Tutoring
Algebra I and II is where the bulk of my tutoring experience is. I have taken and received As in all of my Algebra courses. A lot of Algebra focuses on various problem solving strategies to reach the same results. I like to work with my students to understand these strategies and find the best strategy for them.

Geometry Tutoring
Geometry is the most visual of all of the mathematics courses, and often I use visual aids to help students understand geometric concepts. I have taken Geometry and received an A in it. Geometry, when understood, is the most enjoyable math class for any student, and I hope to help get students there.
Physics Tutoring
Physics is the science closest to math, and is often referred to as applied mathematics. I have taken several Physics classes in college, and have gotten As in all of them. A strong foundation of mathematics will help any physics student, and I have often been able to help clients by refreshing them on mathematical concepts they might have missed.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
Prealgebra is the setup for the largest jump in difficulty in math, Algebra, where letters (variables) are introduced. I took prealgebra quite a while ago, but I did get an A, and I continue to stay sharp by helping students learn prelagebra. This foundation is very important, and so I push my students to focus on succeeding in this course more than any other.
SAT Math Tutoring
For all middle school and high school math:
This is my specialty, where most of my experience is. I did well in all of these classes when I took them, and I still keep contact with the teachers. I really enjoy teaching these classes because each builds on the last. A good understanding of algebra is a blessing in calculus, and so on.
Study Skills Tutoring
I was a straight A student through all of high school, and I will credit a lot of that to staying organized and having study systems. The natural tendency of all students is to procrastinate, but setting reasonable goals and sub-goals helps students succeed. I have worked with students in the past, and splitting up big projects into smaller chunks helps students stay focused and succeed.
Middle School Math Tutoring
Middle school math consists of some prealgebra and learning mathematical language. I was a straight A student through all of middle school, and have kept sharp by continuing to tutor middle school math. One of my previous clients, who has written a letter of recommendation for me, I helped with middle school math.
Elementary Math Tutoring
Elementary school math, a student's introduction to math, is actually the math people use most in everyday life. Having mental math well practiced will help everyone. One of my previous clients, who has written a letter of recommendation for me, I helped with elementary school math.
Science Tutoring
I was a straight A student through all of elementary school, and science was my favorite subject to learn. Elementary school science involves a lot of vocabulary, which I am great at coaching, and science projects, which my students always love doing with me. Having a good science education will spark any student's interest in continuing to learn and grow in this area.
