About Me
I am currently studying to receive my Masters in Social Work at USC. This is my second semester and I am learning a lot through the program. I have two Bachelor's in Sociology and Spanish. I have worked with students since my undergraduate career. I thoroughly enjoy making a difference and helping others. In the future, I hope to still be able to make a difference in my career as a social worker.
During my undergraduate years I was a tutor through the program America Counts. I tutored K-6 grade students and enjoyed helping my students. I often tutored twice a week during the academic year. In addition, I also tutored through a No Child Left Behind program called Academic Advantage. This program was designed to assist low income students by providing them free home tutoring. Tutoring is extremely rewarding. I love watching my students learn and grow as individuals.
Grasping new concepts is not always easy for students. Students often feel pressure when they start falling behind. This is why when I tutor I try to create a stress-free environment. This method gives students the confidence they need to give right or wrong answers. I try to remain encouraging through the session, this increases student’s confidence and they are more willingly to participate. In addition, students often work better if they are rewarded. Giving students incentives encourages them to work hard and achieve their full potential.
