Fun Facts

I've been passionate about writing since I can remember! I've started a lot of stories, but rarely have I completed any. I am more into the creative process and ability to create different characters and settings. I had a pet rat named Sweet Pea, but he wasn't that sweet unless you baited him with treats. Someday soon, I hope to learn how to DJ. My ideal day would start by discovering a new nature preserve, having a picnic, and wrapping up my day by attending a concert.

About Me

I am a graduate of Georgia State University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and an Advanced Research Distinction. I am currently taking a gap year before I apply to M.D./Ph.D. programs. Beyond my background in Neuroscience, I have experience with data analysis, bioinformatics, modeling biological systems, and STEM education/community outreach.

Experience

I've acted as a supplemental instructor to K-12 in Science and Math through my AmeriCorps service. During the class, I would assist students in my focus group and help them with assignments. I've also acted as an instructor for Kids' Scientist Club, an after-school robotics club. Through this internship, I taught pre-K through 5th-grade students STEAM concepts using pre-established lesson plans and ones that I created. Working for Frog Tutoring gives me the opportunity to impact even more lives.

Approach

In my third-grade class, my teacher asked me to help a student who was having trouble with reading. This was a huge task to give to an eight-year-old, but I appreciated the opportunity. She saw my strength and believed it was an opportunity to mentor another student. Personally, I attempt to also see the strengths of all my students, because I believe they have the opportunity to mentor others. As a result, I move my students toward their true potential by helping them to gain a sense of agency.
