About Me
I am a junior at the denver">University of Denver and a Daniels Fund Scholar. I have an English major with a concentration in English education. I also have minors in Psychology and Spanish. I've been on the Dean's list all three of my years at DU. After working in low-income schools with the Americorps program City Year Denver next year, I plan to finish with a Master's in Education and become a High school English teacher for at-risk youth. I have always loved school and loved teaching/denver">tutoring.
I began denver">tutoring when I was in 8th grade, working with a program called CLOUT in which 8th graders tutored 6th graders in Math and Science through Reading and Writing activities. Later, in high school, I worked with an Arts Outreach program in which we went to near-by elementary schools and taught art classes after school. I was also hired by a 7th grader's parents to help her stay organized and keep up her grades although she struggled with ADHD. Recently, I worked with a program called Diversion denver">Tutoring which paired me with middle and high school students who had cases in the Adams County Judicial district and needed help keeping up with school as part of their judicial agreements.
I firmly believe that all students have the potential to do well and that helping them earn success is the best way to ensure future success. I think denver">tutoring is about guiding students to the right answers in such a way that they can gain genuine confidence because they know that THEY achieved their goals. I have had lots of practice denver">tutoring and also helping my little sister (now 10 years old) with homework. Not only do I enjoy doing it, but I have the patience, the persistence, and the positive attitude to do it well.
