About Me
I'm currently a graduate student at Arizona State University and I am finishing a Master's of Fine Arts degree in Fiction writing this coming May. In the fall, I will be teaching at ASU. I graduated from maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University in New York City in May 2009 with a degree in English. After graduating, I worked for two years at The New York Review of Books.
I have taught in the English Department at Arizona State University for the last three years. In that time, I've taught English 101, which is composition, and English 102, which focuses more on argumentation. I've also taught sections of creative writing and I have been a Teaching Assistant for an Intro to Film course with an enrollment of over 230 students. In the past three years, I have taught ten different classes and have learned something from each of them.
In my time at Arizona State, I've found that a lot of where the best teaching happens is in a one-on-one setting. I routinely schedule individual conferences with my students so that we can review their essay drafts in detail. I'm confident that my experience in the classroom will translate to being a successful albuquerque">tutor. I work to try and maintain an up-beat and positive vibe in the classroom—I want my students to be energized to learn, and I try to facilitate a classroom atmosphere which is both fun and conducive to productive learning.
