Fun Facts

Throughout my childhood I have always played sports. Often I am chosen to be the team captain, even when I'm not a starter. And, I'm usually referred to as the glue of the team. I do whatever I can to play my role, even if that means being a cheerleader from the bench. I will also be the first person in my family to graduate from college.

About Me

I am a student at Pacific University, majoring in Creative Writing and minority in Art. This year I am a senior and I will graduate May 17th, 2014. After college I am moving to the Portland or washington/vancouver">Vancouver area, and I will be raising my son with Devan (the father). I plan to become a police officer within the next five years, but timing depends solely on what is best for my son. I am currently maintaining two jobs, a conduct board member and librarian, while taking fifteen credits.

As far as portland">tutoring experience, I have tutored my ten year old cousin in math, writing, and science. I have tutored my four year old cousin in English, in terms o teaching him new words and their spellings. And I tutored two children, ages six and eight in writing, reading and math.

When it comes to portland">tutoring, I usually get to know who I'm teaching. What I mean by this, is I ask the students name, what they like to do for fun, what they did that day, casual questions, to get to know how they respond. This tells me if they are outgoing, talkative, and wanting to be tutored. From there I choose how to approach teaching them. If they are more talkative and outgoing then I do hands on activities with constant interaction. If they are resistant or shy I have them work with less interaction and more positive reinforcement, allowing them to become more comfortable with me. I simply have to understand, some people are introverts, and some people are extroverts.
