One very important part of my life is heath and fitness. I love hiking, swimming, and movement in general. Respecting my body and treating it well are two of my top priorities because it enables me to be a powerful, happy, and useful individual in society. Being healthy directly effects how well I can serve any purpose. Also, I love art of all kinds, animals, children, and my God.
About Me
I am a senior at San Diego State University. I currently hold a 3.39 GPA. I transferred to SDSU with a 3.53 from a community college in Northern California. At that community college, I was on the Dean's list in 2008, and 2009. I earned multiple scholarships during my time there and graduated with honors with an AA in Liberal Studies. Here at SDSU, I am a member of the SCTA (teacher's association) club and will be attending the Representative Assembly Conference in Sacramento with fellow club members this March.
I am a CRLA certified tutor. I earned this certification through classes at maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia Community College. I was a tutor at the Academic Achievement Center at CCC from 2008-2010. I tutored Math, English, and Psychology, and made regular announcements on behalf of the tutoring center. It was an incredible experience. I worked with amazing people and learned how to interact with various types of students. I learn to access what the individual needed in order to assist them. I learned problem solving and time management skills. I am very eager to begin tutoring again because it is truly a passion of mine and something I am very confident in doing. I also tutored several middle school/high school student independently and was involved in program for students studying to earn their GED.
As a child, I was a slow learning. I had the opportunity to be home-schooled and this experience allowed me to learn at a comfortable pace. I overcame many learning obstacles with the dedication and help of my family. They were so patient with me and taught me to ask myself questions and find answers. When tutoring, I attempt to do the same which facilitates individual ideas. I do not give answers but seek to gently guide tutees to their own questions(and answers). This is how I was taught. I am extremely passionate about children's education and enrichment. I love children. I love their energy. I have a particular soft spot for struggling students. I know how scary it can be to
