Fun Facts

Even though I am only 100 pounds, I have a great love of food and cooking. My enthusiasm and inspiration pours into my syndicated food columns that appear in various newspapers where I write under the moniker of "The Kitchen Shrink"
I have also dabbled in comedy, and have performed stand-up at various comedy clubs in Toronto.

About Me

I have an eclectic background; my solid foundation started with a law degree, and admission to the bar as a full-fledged attorney. I have taught law and business at community college, hosted a business radio show, then leap-frogged (pardon the pun) into writing and tutoring. My journalist career spans over three decades, while I have been a private tutor, as well as a tutor with a tutoring service for over 10 years.

Experience

As a teaching master with Seneca College, a freelance consultant with Quest Consulting, employee of Tutor Doctor of San Diego, and word-of-mouth, I have been consistently educating, and tutoring graduate, high school, middle grade, and elementary students in assorted subjects including English, Writing Composition, Psychology, History (both world and American), Biology, and lower grade Math.

Approach

I need to transport myself back to the days when I struggled with Math and English, and remember my challenges. Patience is key, along with bringing real-life examples to the tutoring session. For example, when I was explaining a genetics question to a student about recessive genes, I shored up a story about a friend who had brown eyes, while her parents both had blue eyes. The friend realized at that point that she was adopted.
