About Me
I am a Sophomore student at maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University in the City of New York in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Material Engineering is my major with Art History as my prospective minor. As a material engineering major, I intend to travel to famous archaeological sites and attempt to describe the physical and chemical processes imbued in classical architecture.
I have tutored extensively in high school specifically in my German club, but also provided tutoring services for students in Physics and Chemistry. I strove to assist the tutee in not only understanding the material but also in developing the requisite skills to learn and comprehend the material without my assistance. This led to much success for the tutee as a learner and I as an instructor, for we both matured in our respective positions; I accrued effective instructional skills and they reaped the results of their efforts.
I strive to cultivate in tutees skills with which they themselves can understand and solve the problems tasked instead of spoon-feeding them answers. Instilling a deductive thought-process is paramount as any educator, and as a tutor, I believe my role is to bridge the gap between the student's miscomprehension of a topic and his or her understanding by allowing the tutee to develop the skills necessary to not only solve the problem but also apply the problem-solving methodology in other scenarios. Yes, this a more time-consuming method of instruction, but it allows the tutee to extend his or her knowledge beyond the scope of the classroom and prepare them for real-world applications.
