Fun Facts

A fun fact about me is that I love to watch hockey! I am an avid Sharks fan but I also love the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights. I also have a pet snake! His name is Morbo after a Futurama character. I love to read and play video games in my free time.

About Me

I am originally from Southern California, from a city called Rancho Cucamonga. I spent four years in the Bay Area where I earned my bachelors from UC Berkeley and then I moved to Colorado to earn my MS degree from Univ. of Colorado, Boulder in Museum and Field Studies. My focus was in vertebrate paleontology and I have more than 6 years working with museum collections, including anthropology, paleontology, and zoology collections. I am planning to go back to school to become a pharmacist.

Experience

I have over 11 years of tutoring, starting from when I was in 6th grade. Since middle school and high school, I have been tutoring middle school and high school students. When I graduated from college, I was working with over seven students every week. I was able to work with most of them for 3-4 years and even watched some of them graduate. I was so glad to have bonded so closely with them and see them progress through their schooling.

Approach

I feel that I work very well with middle school and high school students because it hasn't been that long since I was in their shoes. That, and I have no shame, so I don't mind embarrassing myself to make them more comfortable. To me, feeling comfortable with a tutor is the first step to being able to focus on the subject and ask questions when they need to. I also am very enthusiastic about learning, especially math and science, and I like to pepper in fun ways to learn the subject.
