Fun Facts
I'm crazy about guitars, even if I am not very good at playing them. I love how they look, feel and sound. I've been to Peru three times and for some reason I've never visited Machu Picchu. I love animals. My favorite animal is the gibbon.
About Me
I am a Spanish tutor at Howard Community College. I've tutored and taught Spanish for years and I really feel at home there. Next year I plan on taking a Spanish medical interpretation course. My ultimate goal is to continue to help as many students as possible to improve their Spanish, which is one of my greatest passions, as well as to enter the interpretation field which will allow me to interact with people from the Spanish-speaking community on a daily basis.
Experience
I have been tutoring Spanish since my time in college. I always enjoyed helping classmates and discussing the material we had learned outside of class. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Towson University in 2013. I began teaching Spanish part-time at a community college and shortly after that I discovered my passion for tutoring and working one-on-one and in small groups with Spanish students.
Approach
As someone who has taught Spanish, I know the ins and outs of the material studied in the classroom. As a student of Spanish, I know the challenges that Spanish can present for a non-native speaker. My goal is to make the language clearer and more approachable for all my students as well as to help them acquire new study skills and strategies for approaching their Spanish learning so that the material will stick. I believe strongly in positive encouragement and making learning Spanish enjoyable!
