Fun Facts
In my free time, I like doing many things: maintenance on our cars as well as keeping them clean. I also like doing garden or yard work around the house. I have several musical instruments that I have been trying to learn how to play for many years now. I play soccer with my friends and I also coach kids at the club level. I really enjoy listening to music from all over the world.
About Me
I graduated from the University of Arizona in 2012 with a BS in Public Health. My general GPA was 3.5. Right now, I am finishing a Masters Degree in Teaching at the U of A. I expect to graduate in May of this year. I want to teach Spanish after I graduate.I also like languages and I am planning to continue taking classes to keep learning.
I did student teaching for a Spanish class -- levels 1 and 2 -- at Tucson High School as part of my graduate program. The student teaching lasted six months. When I was there, I had the opportunity to work with several students who were more advanced than the regular Spanish level 1 Class. These students are what is called "Heritage Learners", which means that they have learned how to speak the language at home, but they don't know how to write it. My job was to teach them more advanced material and also work on pronunciation as well as spelling, which was a big issue for them.
It's important to be patient, because often students who need tucson">tutors are already frustrated. I also think it's critical to let students tell me where they may have problems. We'll start from there and once I have identified others areas of need, I can work them into an overall tucson">tutoring plan. With students of all ages, it's important to build trust. Part of a good tucson">tutoring approach is respect for students' intelligence and desire to do better. I can leverage the learning and teaching strategies I know to help students become more successful.
