About Me

I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California but currently attend college at Yale University in connecticut/new-haven">New Haven, CT. I will complete a B.S. in biology this May 2014 and will be starting medical school at the end of summer.

I worked as a calculus connecticut/new-haven">tutor for my previous high school for one year and have worked as a private middle school and high school connecticut/new-haven">tutor for six years. As a private connecticut/new-haven">tutor, I have tutored in various subjects, including but not limited to Spanish, biology, English, and math. I also currently work as a Science and Math connecticut/new-haven">tutor for Yale University, through which I connecticut/new-haven">tutor my peers individually. Furthermore, I have experience as a teacher, as I spent a summer teaching and organizing an SAT and college prep course through the nonprofit CollegeSpring.

As a connecticut/new-haven">tutor, I believe it is most important that students have confidence both in themselves and in what they are learning. When students believe that they cannot succeed or that what they are learning is irrelevant to their goals, they stay unmotivated and unwilling to learn. Consequently, rather than only tell my students what they have been doing wrong, I try to focus on positive things my students have been doing as well. In addition, I try to instill in my students the importance of their work so that they have a clear understanding of how their learning helps them. Lastly, I always make sure to give my students a strong academic foundation that will allow them to succeed individually and outside of our connecticut/new-haven">tutoring sessions.
