Fun Facts
A fun fact about me is that I love history, art and studying/learning more about world cultures, including languages and food. I love to try different cuisines and explore new restaurants both locally and abroad. I--in general--love to study things of the past and hope some day to travel abroad.
About Me
I am a graduate from UC Davis with a dual major in History and Chinese. Until college, I knew very little about China, and after taking introductory courses on its history, I learned to love the culture and the language. In fact, I was so determined to learn more about China's history, art, and language, that I continued to take extension courses through UC Davis and UC Berkeley after I graduated. I hope someday to travel to China and possibly go to graduate school.
Experience
In high school, I had a wonderful experience tutoring 5th and 6th graders in mathematics and reading comprehension for two whole summers. It was an extremely rewarding experience, and I learned a lot from my peers in the program. At UC Davis, I had the extraordinary opportunity of being a Teaching Assistant as a undergraduate student in one of my favorite classes--Introduction to Chinese History. I proctored exams, lectured in discussion sessions, and graded tests and homework. It was awesome!
Approach
In elementary school, I struggled with math. Until my fourth grade teacher encouraged me and guided me through the formulas, I found my groove and got perfect scores on tests and even flawless scores on STAR tests. As a tutor, I hope to bring the same encouragement and positive attitude to my students. I wish to show students helpful study skills that will help them understand the content and also complete homework and test fast and efficiently.
