Fun Facts

One passion that people learn about me is that I love music. Whenever I get a free chance I drum or play guitar. I am also learning to play the piano. I like music of all genres and truly enjoy the art of it. I have lived in different parts of the country as well originally from the mid west but now in the east coast. I hope in the future that I can go on a road trip around the country and listen to local musicians.

About Me

I am a certified teacher. I have my masters in education. I have been teaching for 10 years. I love education and helping students to learn. As a undergraduate student at Penn State University, I had the opportunity to work as a teaching assistant and eventually progressed to a teaching coordinator. Upon graduating from college I began tutoring students in local libraries and in their homes. Now that I am with frog tutoring I am excited about all the students I will be able to tutor and mentor.

As a child I was a gifted student and performed well. I had excellent teachers, mentors and role models and it motivated me to want to help others. I also had friends that I tutored and wanted to see succeed. As a tutor I want to help everyone reach their true potential and strive. Instead of giving students answers I believe it is their responsibility to understand the material when it is communicated to them correctly. I focus on teaching study skills, and push my students to always do their best because to be successful you have to work at it.

Experience

As a first-year teacher, I promoted my classroom to achieve a 40% increase in their benchmark math and reading scores. I have been teaching middle school for 10 years. I am certified to teach all subjects in middle school. Working for Frog Tutoring gives me the opportunity to impact many students and make a difference.

Approach

My approach to teaching students is to communicate in a way that students understand. I attempt to remove all the barriers in communication by translating the content students are learning into something students understand. To teach is to communicate and I strive to reach students where they are. I strongly believe in speaking to students, not speaking above students' comprehension level. I believe in making complicated ideas plain by making content relatable with stories and framing content
