Fun Facts

I am an avid long distance runner and am planning to run a half-marathon soon. I also enjoy reading books and articles from newspapers and magazines such as The New York Times and Science. I value learning and strive to learn something new everyday.

About Me

I am a senior double major in Chemistry and Biology at Northeastern Illinois University. I plan on doing research in the fall on a specific method to make college laboratories more environmentally friendly. My long-term goals is to attend graduate school and get a PhD in Bio-Organic Chemistry in order to teach at a teaching institution.

I worked as an both ACT test preparation chicago">tutor and subject chicago">tutor in Math (middle school to high school) Chemistry, Biology and general science (middle school) at Huntington Learning Center for a year before starting a private chicago">tutoring business. In my private chicago">tutoring business, have tutored students for the ACT with a custom designed curriculum specific to each student's needs. I have also tutored high school Biology and Chemistry and college Organic Chemistry. In addition, I have led a seminar for college students in General Chemistry I and II and Organic Chemistry II for 2 years.

I am a very enthusiastic and encouraging chicago">tutor and I try to inspire students to take an interest in what they're studying and not just do it for the grade. I achieve this by creating problems that show the interconnectivity of science and real life. I also inspire students through confidence building by first celebrating student progress and then addressing weaknesses. Structure is also essential for a private chicago">tutor; to this end, I create lesson plans and progress reports for each student in addition to assigning homework. I regularly communicate student progress with parents and establish a collaborative relationship with parents.
