Fun Facts
I'm treasurer of my housing co-op. I love to travel, and have been to 31 countries across six continents. When I was eleven I got third place in the summer camp ear-wiggling contest. (This is more impressive than it sounds. The competition was fierce.)
About Me
I have a bachelors in science/texas/austin">Computer Science from Colorado College. I worked for several years as a software engineer, but really enjoy teaching more. I would rather work one on one than with a large class though.
Experience
I have been working as a Tutor since 2019. I've taught students as from first grade up through college, in Math, Programming, Science, and other subjects. Before that I did some work as a TA while in undergrad, and was a summer camp counselor for five years.
Approach
I model an education as a building made of bricks. Each brick represents some specific skill or fact. If the lower layer of bricks are not solid, then the higher layers cannot stand.
My strategy is to back up to a point at which the student is comfortable, and then move forward in small, easy steps. That way, each new piece of information is bound together with what they already understand, making it more secure.
