Fun Facts

I love many different sports such as: golf,tennis,swimming,bicycle riding, and horseback riding. I also write silly songs. My Gobble Gobble Song gets played every Thanksgiving on the Rick and Bubba show. They say I am a celebrity in Alabama but I have never been there so I wouldn't know!...lol

About Me

I have a Pre-Veterinarian degree from Clemson University.
In 2003, I earned my Master's degree in Education with a Magna Cum Laude (3.7 avg). I have received seven Crystal Apple awards and been recognized in Who's Who of American High Schools six times. I taught High School Biology in the classroom for ten years and tutored on the side as well. I have also been a substitute teacher for first graders. They were so fun and had such incredible energy!
Having come from a long line of teachers I like to break difficult subjects down so students can understand them better. It is great when a student gets it for the first time! It makes a teacher feel really good about the whole learning process.

Experience

I taught Biology/Chemistry for ten years. I also was on the grant writing committee for a computer lab for the school. I was also on the committee to establish of the Freshman Academy at 2 different High Schools. I handled the pep rallies and homecoming events as well as co-coached the dance team.

Approach

I like taking a difficult subject and breaking it down into smaller more digestible parts. In that respect, I can pinpoint where the student feels confident in their knowledge and build from there. I think that it helps the student feel that what they are about to tackle is obtainable.
