Fun Facts
I am the oldest of four. I have lived in Maryland for over seventeen years, prior to that I lived in Atlanta, Georgia for five years. But I was born in raised in Boston mass. People do not know where I am from at first meeting because my accent has blended into something completely different.
About Me
I am a music person who likes to play the piano, also an accountant as a day job. I have actually worked in accounting for nearly twenty years in some kind of accounting role, to include working with QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, and MIP Abila. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Music (a double major) from Morehouse College. So I can give you some tutoring help in basic accounting if you're interested.
Experience
I have gone to school for undergraduate and graduate degrees in music from Morehouse College and Georgia State University Graduate School of Music, respectively. I have composed and written music and I also have taught private piano lessons to many young people over the course of over thirteen years. I have also produced and co-produced music for group and solo CD releases in the past ten years. I have played music in churches, school jazz bands, and other venues.
Approach
I am all about the student learning. I encourage the student to learn to play the piano by playing the piano versus just watching the teacher. I integrate practical ear-training and improv with sound musical theory. I will encourage you and push you to be positive minded and creative. You can do more than you think you can if the desire is there.
